Pricing Manager

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 
•    Due to the sustained success of the Pricing team since its inception in 2019, alongside the growth of the wider firm, both in the UK and in our expanding international network, we are looking to recruit an experienced pricing professional to bolster the team.
•    As Pricing Manager, you will independently lead pricing support the firms largest formal panel responses, as well as some of the largest one-off mandates, whilst working collaboratively with the wider pricing and commercial finance teams 
•    You will also support the Head of Pricing with driving Addleshaw Goddard's Pricing agenda, providing hands on commercial, and practical advice to Partners, client relationship teams, Finance and BD to drive profitability.   

THE TEAM 
•    The Group Finance team supports and drives the financial success of Addleshaw Goddard. We strive to deliver a first-class service to our stakeholders and to be a great team to work with and be part of. The Group Finance team comprises business professionals across a range of disciplines including Financial Control, Tax, Procurement, Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis, Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Legal Billing and Legal Cashiering.
•    The Pricing team currently comprises of 5 colleagues, 2 experienced Pricing Managers, the Head of Pricing, a Senior Accountant and a Senior Rates Analyst.  
•    The team has a strong internal reputation, focussed on delivering pragmatic, professional support to our partners, and has a significant track record of helping to drive improvements in pricing across the firm which has helped to deliver strong financial returns over recent years and is central to achieving the firm's ambitious targets for 2030.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE 
Key responsibilities
•    To support the firm's pricing governance framework which includes advising the firm's Pricing Advisory Committee, developing a pricing strategy for all major panel appointments and for significant one-off opportunities. The Pricing Manager will provide finance support, assessing both pricing decisions and reporting the success of planned delivery models.  
•    To serve as the firm's primary resource for pricing related matters, working alongside colleagues in Finance, BD and across Practice and Sector lines.
•    To actively promote the use of our "BigHand Pricing Tool" for large one off fixed or capped fee mandates. To train users and to help achieve benefits in the management of scope on the mandates and for pricing to move beyond "initial" pricing to "in-life" pricing support.
Future development opportunities for the team and the role
•    Design and implement training for Partners and associates to enhance the firm's skills in pricing.
•    Proactively identify opportunities with clients by reviewing engagement terms and initiating discussions to renew panel/client terms.
•    To contribute to the process around the monitoring of panel agreement dates and collaborate with the CRP team to review and proactively manage pricing before any formal RFP, with support from CRP and Exec.
•    Review major client engagements to identify opportunities for better pricing agreement control, consistency in offerings, support for major client teams, and enhanced governance around pricing.
•    Oversee the development and sharing of pricing tools and information on a central pricing hub.
•    Lead pricing-related projects to increase revenue, efficiency, or improve internal monitoring and reporting.
•    Support key clients and sectors through a business partnering role with relevant teams.
•    Stay informed about legal market changes and build a network to stay ahead of key developments.

YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE 
To be successful in this role you will have the following essential attributes.
•    Possess a minimum of 3 years' experience in a senior pricing role, in either a law firm or other relevant professional services environment. 
•    Have experience of supporting and coaching decision makers and client-facing Partners on pricing issues, being a confident stakeholder manager to deliver outcomes that support strategic goals whilst building ongoing internal relationships with the key individuals.
•    Strong understanding of legal service pricing, alternative fee arrangements, law firm profitability and costing of services. 
•    The ability to analyse and model financial data and prepare concise reports to assist in pricing decisions. 
•    Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. Confident presence, and interpersonal skills that enable effective engagement and collaboration with the firm's most senior Partners and Directors. 
•    Tenacity, resilience, and patience when dealing with challenging issues.  
•    Flexibility and able to adapt readily to changing requirements and circumstances.  
•    Dynamic problem-solving abilities; finding creative, commercial, and pragmatic solutions.  
In addition, the following attributes are desirable.
•    The ability to lead and manage the application of systems and technology to the processed involved in critical pricing activities.  
•    Experience and technical expertise to manage large data sets to model and manipulate data for analysis and presentation.  
•    Experience of designing and presenting training sessions for senior stakeholders, designed to better equip Partners and senior associates to be more confident around pricing and increase their broad commercial understanding.
