The Role
Simply, this role is about delivering unignorable, persuasive, and ultimately effective – client-facing tools, content, and communications. Specifically, you will be responsible for working alongside Business Development professionals to develop a mixture of go-to-market propositions, marketing plans, 'sales' materials, and multi-channel campaigns. You will be focused on helping to open-up client conversations, generate new leads or build our brand. In addition to thinking strategically and commercially, the role will be very hands-on – you will contribute actively to message & content development, and figuring out how to convert communications into opportunity. You will also analyse and advise the firm on what is working, what isn't, and how to improve marketing effectiveness.
In summary, you will help us deliver the most admired, memorable, and effective marketing communications and campaigns in the legal sector.
The role may require occasional travel.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Advise partners and business development professionals on the best ways to use modern marketing communications to help them achieve their growth and brand ambitions. Your output will be high impact content, client outreach materials, web pages, social media posts, adverts, event invitations, and campaigns.
- Your will help our business development teams and partners around the world to write or improve their messages and value propositions.
- Help our firm identify whether account-based tactics or mass marketing tactics are appropriate on individual projects - managing all key stakeholders to buy into your recommendations. Base your communications and campaign plans on client, market, and competitor analysis.
- Identify the optimum channel mix to ensure project or campaign success, covering email, direct mail, web, social, SEO, advertising, events, print, sponsorship, PR, and any other appropriate channel on a case-by-case basis.
- Bring your own creative ideas to the table to make our communications stand out from the crowd and stimulate demand, but also partner effectively with colleagues and specialist agencies to ensure our communications and campaign plans have the best chance of getting noticed and converting.
- Set project and campaign objectives and KPIs; manage projects against those objectives; report on progress; and identify key lessons learned and improvement plans where required.
- Project manage virtual teams of specialists, including PR, Events, Design, Web, and others, to ensure effective delivery and follow-up of projects – on time and on budget.
- Occasionally provide support at major marketing events.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- We are looking for a candidate with the commerciality, gravitas, creativity, and marketing skillsets to help our firm stand out from the crowd, earn client attention and turn that attention into opportunity. We are seeking candidates that can think both smart and big in terms of communications, client outreach, propositions, and campaigns - and have the drive, influence and commercial nous to turn them into results.
- You must have at least 6 years of experience working in a business marketing role, including within a management role. Candidates from law firms or other professional services firms would be highly desirable.
- You will work directly with senior, influential members of the Firm and so strong stakeholder management and influencing skills are essential. You must have the personal influence to persuade senior people to embrace modern marketing. Advising people, saying no constructively, changing, and winning hearts and minds is central to this role.
- You must be able to help the firm write and then convey sales messages in a distinctive, persuasive, visually impactful and client-centric way. Strong copywriting skills and a design eye are essential.
- You must be highly organised, an excellent project manager, be able to manage concurrent projects, prioritise workload according to business need, and ensure completion against tight deadlines. We operate in highly competitive markets, and so you must be able to operate at a high quality in demanding situations.
- You must be able to demonstrate how you have worked towards KPIs and used analytics to inform decision-making and improve marketing performance. A performance marketing culture is critical to our success, so you must be analytical, results-oriented and be able to set SMART objectives.
- Your portfolio of work to date would include a mixture of tactical activity including at least 7 of the following: in-person or online events; market research; social media programmes; content marketing; account-based marketing (ABM); direct mail; thought leadership; PR; PPC; SEO; advertising; brand building; email marketing; video marketing; influencer activity; or sponsorships.
You must feel comfortable leading virtual teams, briefing agencies and managing supplier delivery.
