Assistant Team Leader

The Assistant Team Leader works closely with a Team Leader to help manage the continued development and performance of

the Paralegals and Apprentices within a subteam as well as being involved in the fee earning work that the team undertakes. Duties include:

  • line managing an identified team of Apprentices and Paralegals which form part of the Finance and Projects subteam.
  • providing coaching and regular feedback, and carrying out regular career check-ins to develop, encourage and motivate those individuals
  • working closely with the Team Leader and/or Senior Manager to contribute towards individual paralegal and team
  • development plans
  • taking instructions from clients, ensuring requirements are understood and allocating appropriate resource
  • implementing and carrying out quality assurance checks on tasks undertaken by the team
  • managing the larger, more complex projects the team is instructed to complete
  • proactively identifying and promoting new business opportunities to internal and external clients
  • contributing to the development of the subteam and the wider team through developing initiatives and processes
  • assisting with the business development strategy for the team, which would include data analysis, reporting, and engagement with the Finance & Projects Group
  • understanding and undertaking fee earning work completed within the subteam (training provided where candidates have no prior experience)
  • deputising for the Team Leader and/or Senior Manager

In addition to the above, all Assistant Team Leaders are encouraged to take a lead role in business engagement and team

development activities or initiatives relevant to their role to identify ways in which the TST can support the Firm in a better way.

They are also expected to become familiar with and utilise legal technology for routine and/or project work.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (BESPOKE TO ROLE)

  • good technical knowledge, ideally within finance restructuring or corporate practice areas. Other fee earning experience would also be considered in at least one of the areas of law in which AG specialises
  • prior experience of working in a legal environment as a Paralegal or in a similar role
  • supervisory experience and experience of defining work processes and "best practice" approach (desirable but not essential)
