Job Description

Social, Sustainable and Green Finance Managing Associate, 5PQE+, Leeds or London

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As part of our strategy for continued growth, we are looking for Managing Associates to join our dynamic Social, Sustainable and Green Finance practice, a team with a fantastic reputation in the market and who focus on finance that addresses sustainability changes.

As a senior lawyer (5PQE+) you will develop your career with a market leading team known for its innovation and work with some of the most prestigious names in finance and sustainability.

THE TEAM
•    The Social, Sustainable and Green Finance practice is the pre-eminent team particularly in the Affordable and Social Housing finance sector across the UK, and this is a great opportunity to join us.

•    We draw together a larger team of nationally recognised experts than any of our competitors which enables us to deliver the most complex and innovative transactions better than anyone else.

•    We act on all aspects of Social, Sustainable and Green funding, whether related to finance, property security or debt capital markets, and we act for every funder and every investor. For debt financing, refinancing and/or restructuring, no other firm comes close to us in terms of strength in depth, expertise, collaborative approach or delivery.

•    Legal 500 Testimonials:
•    "A really strong and market-leading team with very strong expertise in social housing finance. A very strong bench of highly experienced legal professionals and sustainability expertise."
•    'Sector leading firm and individuals. Addleshaw goes above and beyond in terms of adding value, not just to individual transactions, but also the ongoing relationship.'
•    'The people and the knowledge are second-to-none. The attention to detail and level of advice they provide is seamless.'

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE ROLE:
•    Due to the impact of the constantly evolving Government policies, Social, Sustainable and Green Finance continues to be high on the political agenda, resulting in a consistent and fast-paced work stream for the team.

•    You'll be part of a team addressing the most urgent environmental, social and green issues, from decarbonisation efforts to revolutionising social housing.

•    Advising a diverse range of clients, including housing associations, registered providers, funders, and investors.

•    Leading on high-value and complex transactions, such as bond issues, private placements, syndicated and bilateral loans, and sustainability-linked financing.

•    Providing commercially focused and innovative solutions tailored to client needs.

•    Working closely with other teams and disciplines within the firm to deliver seamless, multidisciplinary advice.

•    Contributing to the growth of the practice by building and maintaining strong client relationships.

•    This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with a strong reputation for providing Managing Associates with high levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment and therefore you can expect to take a leading role on most matters.

•    Continuous development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
You will:

•    Be a qualified solicitor with at least 5 years' PQE, gained at a comparable law firm, showcasing a proven track record of expertise and experience within this sector.

•    Technical abilities as a finance lawyer are more important than previous sector knowledge - but a clear desire to work on impact finance transactions is key.

•    Have the ability to manage and lead complex transactions, working collaboratively with fee earners across multiple disciplines to deliver seamless, high-quality advice to clients.

•    Show a genuine enthusiasm for business development, with the drive to build and strengthen client relationships and contribute to the growth of the practice.

•    Demonstrate the patience, leadership, and mentoring skills required to support the development of junior associates, trainees, and paralegals within the team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
