International BD Executive
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This role sits within the Marketing and Business Development team, whose focus is on helping our expert Partners and other lawyers to win business and deliver excellent client service. We are ambitious to demonstrate the firm's quality, innovation and the impact AG can deliver to our clients.
The further internationalisation of AG is a key strand of our global AG2030 strategy, and we are looking for an experienced business development professional to work with partners across the firm's global network to drive forwards this important pillar of our strategy. The successful candidate will be able to bring a strategic perspective and a "hands-on" approach to BD and Marketing.
The role is fast paced, and an influential one within the BD team, visible to senior partners and involves influencing across all levels of the business. Every day in this role is different, and it would suit someone who is flexible and proactive.
The successful candidate will work closely with the other members of the BD department (Bids, Marketing, Communications, Clients & Sectors and Groups) to ensure the international priorities are seamlessly integrated and executed and that there is effective teamwork and communication with other BD team members, other business services teams and fee-earners at all levels across AG's office network.
The role holder will need to be an experienced BD professional with expertise in different geographical markets and cultures who can effectively manage multijurisdictional matters and someone who has credibility with both clients and other senior legal professionals.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Provide support to the Senior International BDM with priority BD targeting activities, tracking opportunities from large programmes and campaigns and supporting partners and key stakeholders in their BD activities. You will work alongside other team members across the BD Directorate as required to ensure delivery.
- Build strong relationships with partners and key stakeholders within the Group, becoming a trusted BD advisor to them.
- You will have an enthusiastic and can-do attitude with a willingness to learn. This role will require you to develop knowledge and keep up to date with developments across key service lines and growth areas.
- You will be highly organised and will assist with monitoring and measuring BD activity accurately and regularly. You will help the Senior International BDM with actions that come out of meetings and discussions to ensure delivery on projects and initiatives.
- You will lead in the creation of credentials, case studies and testimonials and work with the design team to update and prepare capability statements, case studies and other client presentations and material in line with the firm's visual identity and brand.
- Be an ambassador for our technology platforms, specifically, our referrals hub, CRM platform and central creds repository to ensure their use is optimised across the Firm /to support BD activities and opportunities, alongside the firm's use of InterAction.
- Provide support, assistance and on occasions lead the production and delivery of bids and tenders for new business opportunities, from completing PQQ type response and helping with response drafts, to assisting with appropriate bid opportunities and providing adequate support to the Bids team on major panel tenders. You will ensure the bids tracker remains up to date so we can continue to report on all opportunities accurately.
- Take ownership and maintenance of the various International pages on our website – ensuring content is kept up to date and working with the Digital team to ensure all forms of social media are being considered in line with brand guidelines.
- You will also take ownership and maintenance of International content for the internal and external BD Hub – ensuring content is kept up to date and is categorised correctly to ensure it is searchable.
- Support the Senior International BDM and work with the Internal Communications team to draft internal comms for the Group including key updates on campaigns / initiatives, upcoming events and key client work.
- Support BD activity that runs alongside events and conferences
- Help with the ongoing and inevitable BAU tasks that we receive within the Group
YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
- Experience in an international professional services firm with deep knowledge of the inner workings of such firms, both internationally and locally
- A proven track record in managing diverse programmes and projects across borders
- An understanding of different cultures and how to manage them effectively to achieve mutually rewarding outcomes
- Positive, can do outlook and an 'enquiring' (and constructively challenging) mind-set
- Commercial understanding and awareness combined with the ability to drive connections and translate strategy into action
- Ability to network independently and build rapport with key decision makers to create a platform for growth and gain buy-in
- Able to collaborate with specialist teams across BD, other Business Services teams and fee-earners to promote AG as an international firm and to align support for specific projects
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload according to business need to ensure that tight deadlines are met
- Good communicator with confidence to interact professionally with all levels of seniority both internally and externally including in international markets
- Excellent attention to detail and tact and tenacity to ensure that international intelligence collection, input and reporting is as comprehensive as it can be and fit for purpose
- Able to see things from a client perspective and brings a creative and innovative approach
