Great rewards + benefits + early careers pathways
There are many alternative career pathways within a major international law firm like Addleshaw Goddard. You don't need to be a lawyer to be a leader in this supportive and inclusive professional environment. Just be yourself. And start by being a totally unique Finance Operations Apprentice.
ABOUT ADDLESHAW GODDARD
As a premium law firm working for many thousands of leading organisations in over 100 countries, we don't deal in typical problems, typical solutions or typical careers. Our business is about finding the smartest route to the biggest impact, for our clients, our colleagues and the communities we serve. That means bringing great minds together and helping individuals to be the best they can be.
The many awards, nominations and top rankings we are proud to have received in recent years include accolades for training, peer support, innovation, gender equality, culture and diversity.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Group Finance team is located across our Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Manchester offices but they support the entire global business. The team comprises business professionals across a range of disciplines including Financial Control, Tax, Procurement, Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis, Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Legal Billing and Legal Cashiering, all of which are instrumental to the financial success of the whole firm.
Joining our three-year programme as a Finance Operations Apprentice, you will gain an overview of Finance and how this is delivered within a legal firm within our UK, Europe, Asia and Middle East offices, as well as gaining hands on experience in a wide range of areas. You will rotate between three twelve-month seats within our Billing, Cashiering and Accounts Payable teams and also work towards completing the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship (AAT) Level 3 qualification.
Upon completion of the scheme, you'll have the opportunity to pick from one of our Finance specialisms and continue building your career with us (subject to vacancies).
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
There is no such thing as a ‘typical' Addleshaw Goddard candidate. As a firm, we have always been shaped by different ways of looking at the world. We know our success depends on giving opportunities to people from the widest range of backgrounds, locations and perspectives.
Of course, there are some attributes we would like you to bring to this role (listed below). However, your personality and individuality matter just as much – we want you to be yourself and we will do our best to build your skillset.
- A desire to develop and progress within Finance.
- Ability to get on well with a broad range of people and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to use different approaches depending on the audience and the context.
- High level of attention to detail with significant emphasis on quality of work.
- Ability to be resilient and successfully manage multiple competing workstreams.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel
- Minimum 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade 4 or above.
- 3 A-levels or equivalent at grades C or above (Accounting or Maths desirable).
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT
With Addleshaw Goddard, you can expect a supportive team culture, a flexible, friendly and state-of-the-art working environment, and an attractive salary and benefits package.
For the role of Finance Operations Apprentice, we will reward you with a starting salary of £20,500 a year, with the potential for salary increments in your second and third year.
Core benefits include Life Assurance, Income Protection, Pension and Bonus schemes, with additional Health & Wellbeing benefits and services, plus many voluntary Lifestyle benefits, ranging from a cycle to work scheme, gym allowance and Give As You Earn scheme to season ticket travel loans and railcards.
Our early careers pathways are based on delivering the right training and development opportunities for you as an individual. Our dedicated early careers team is on hand with advice and assistance.
We are an equal opportunity employer and we do not discriminate on the basis of a person's sex, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, background or any other protected characteristic. We are committed to having a diverse team and actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and communities.
To do this effectively, we'd like to hear from you as soon as possible if there are things we can do to support you through the application or interview process – for example, providing you with additional time, organising appointments on particular days, or providing any accessibility support you may require to access our resources or buildings.
