Associate – Contentious Construction

The Team

With more than 90 specialist lawyers across Addleshaw Goddard, including 26 Partners, our Construction and Engineering team offers a full service of legal solutions to all aspects of the construction industry.

Our contentious team in Scotland consists of 2 partners, 1 legal director and 2 associates. The team's specialist experience combined with their commerciality, great relationships and innovation are the reasons that our clients keep coming back to us.  

The team advise on every aspect of Construction Law across all sectors of the industry. The work of the group is hugely varied and includes buildings, civil and process plant engineering, energy, infrastructure and utilities.

Purpose of The Role 

The continued success of the team has led to an increase in the number value of key mandates, and we are looking to recruit a Construction lawyer to join our Scotland team to work on a variety of contentious construction matters. This includes acting for Developers, Lenders, Contractors and Public Sector Bodies.

There is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in contentious work, client relationship development and continued expansion of the team and practice.

This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with a strong reputation for providing associates with early levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment and therefore you can expect to take a leading role on some matters.  The team will take a genuine interest and support you with your development and career ambitions therefore offering excellent career prospects.  

Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise 

  • Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree
  • Ideally at least five years' experience in construction law, ideally set in construction or projects and gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level
  • The ability to actively support complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed.
  • Ability to achieve continuous improvement and development
  • Confident with client and willing to partake in a range of business development initiatives
